What do you all think about the default scoring for goalies?

Currently set at

Goalies
Per Save: 0.1
Per Goal Allowed: -1.0
Per Win: 2.0
Per Loss: -1.0

Bonus Scoring
Hat Trick: 3.0
Goalie Shut Out: 5.0

It seems to me the goalies arnt pulling their weight unless they make 35+ saves let in 2 or less goals or get a shut out.

Maybe the -1 per loss is too much?

We had the saves at .2 originally, but changed to .1 in early April when we found goalies were getting paid a king’s ransom. I think bumping up saves a little (max of .15) may be the best option. A loss of -1 sounds about right to me with +2 for wins, but we’re open.

Maybe more points for a win or less negative points for goals against.

Using Fleury and Habbybulin as an example both with 7 wins 28-30 goals against and under 300 saves have less points than Brodeur who has 3 wins and out in the 1st round.

I am sold – looking at Fleury at 9.8 right now, and the G7 backbreaking Brodeur at 12.20 and I ain’t buying it. You’re on the right track with Goals Against/Wins – I’ll play with the numbers, and post a new recommendation that we can hammer out for next year.

Played around with this, and W=4 with L=-3 looks like the best I can come up with. This keeps Ovechkin at #1 (38.5), evens Fluery with Brodeur (12.2), bumps Khabibulin from 7.4 to 17.4, etc.

Leading scorers would be:
1) Ovechkin (38.5)
1) Hiller (38.5)
3) Varlamov (38.3)
4) Crosby (33.5)
5) Osgood (31.9)

Currently these folks sit as follows:
- Ovechkin (38.5)
- Hiller (34)
- Crosby (33.5)
- Varlamov (28.3)
- Osgood (20.9)

I also wouldn’t mind bumping Hat Tricks from 3 to 5 (to at least match shutouts); these are proving much more rare. Let me know your thoughts.

Definitely an improvement.

I want it now though.

Osgood and Fluery in my pool currently… wink

Well, I also want Brodeur to make 2 more saves in G7, and Luongo to not fall apart in Rd 2, but oh well. sad

I’ll run this by the other guys and confirm the change for next year.

what would be the result of shut outs at 3 and hat tricks @ 5 ?

Or shut out 3 and hat trick 3?

one more thing I would like to point out.

Goalie scores are mostly Lower in Round 2 compared to round 1. Even if the Goales are getting more games (ala more shots)

Yes they would be getting more goals against but the saves should even this out a bit.

Only reason I can think of for the big gap is the negative points and the round multiplier.

I cant see what w=4 l =3 would do for that, but a goalie with the same save percentage in round 1 and 2 should have more points due to the multiplier, disregarding extra points for shut outs.

Perhaps an entry for save percentage. Not sure how the points would work for that.
